What it is
Longbridge is the third name in the Chinese-fintech app-broker trio alongside Tiger and Futu/moomoo — same generation, same shape: a slick app giving Hong Kong, US, Singapore and China A-shares (Stock Connect) from one account, with aggressive commission promotions (lifetime-free tiers in Singapore). Its trading stack is also sold business-to-business as Longbridge Whale.
The May 2026 CSRC action
Longbridge was penalized by China’s CSRC in May 2026 together with Futu and Tiger — a combined RMB 2.3bn+ action against the trio for serving mainland-China clients without CSRC licensing, with mainland business entering a two-year, sell-only wind-down. As with its peers, the Singapore (MAS) and Hong Kong (SFC) entities continue serving their own residents unaffected — but the growth story that assumed mainland customers is over, which matters to the parent, not to a Singapore client’s account.
Who can open an account
Residence-gated to its two retail entities: Singapore (citizens/PRs via Singpass/MyInfo in minutes; foreigners residing in Singapore with passport + proof of address) and Hong Kong. Some onboarding flows also ask for a proof-of-assets statement from another broker — a quirk its peers don’t have. No US entity; mainland-China residency no longer works post-CSRC action. Not a broadly global onboarding.
Use it / skip it
Use it if you’re a Singapore or Hong Kong resident who wants cheap HK/US/SG/China-A dealing and likes the app — the promos undercut its peers. Skip it for anything this registry exists for: like Tiger and moomoo, it reaches nothing emerging or frontier, and if you’re outside SG/HK it isn’t a route at all.
Verdict
A competent, keenly-priced fourth-generation Asian app broker whose registry relevance is completeness: readers comparing Tiger and moomoo will meet Longbridge too, and the answer is the same — good value inside its SG/HK residency gate, with the same May 2026 CSRC cloud over the parent, and no unusual market access. Researched, not tested.
