Why this entry matters
Most Tanzanian broker websites make foreign access look simpler than it is. Direct correspondence with TSL surfaced the non-obvious reality:
“You need to have local phone number from Tanzania. You need to have local Bank account from Tanzania.” — Lilian Kanje, TSL, 15 May 2026
The real constraint
The Tanzanian local bank account is the structural barrier — it typically requires physical presence or a correspondent banking relationship. The phone number is solvable (eSIM / correspondent SIM). If you can open a Tanzanian bank account (e.g. on a visit, or via an existing African banking relationship), TSL and peers become viable; if you can’t, the offshore route — Kenya NSE cross-listings and AIM resource names — covers the most-investable Tanzanian themes without any of this.
