Based in
Singapore (OCBC Bank)
Who can open an account
Primarily a Singapore bank-broker, so most natural for Singapore residents. Foreigners can open too, but not through the online route (which needs a Singapore digital ID) — they apply by post or in branch, with more paperwork and, depending on account type, a Singapore banking/CDP setup. Not open-from-anywhere.
US persons
Unconfirmed — ask; Singapore brokers commonly decline US persons under FATCA
Markets covered

OCBC Securities publishes online access to 15 exchanges and Trading Representative access to 31 exchanges. Country-level fee schedule includes Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, much of Europe, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, UK, New Zealand, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan and US.

Counted by country market from the current commission schedule (not the same as '31 exchanges' — several exchanges sit in one country). Some markets are online; others require a Trading Representative.

What it is

OCBC Securities is the brokerage arm of OCBC in Singapore. It is a bank-broker relationship rather than a globally open app broker, but its published market access is broader than its old-school reputation implies.

The practical attraction is one Singapore broker relationship with online access to a decent set of markets and Trading Representative access to more.

Market access

OCBC Securities’ current Basic Trading Account page says clients can trade 15 exchanges online and 31 exchanges through a Trading Representative. The commission schedule gives country-level evidence for:

That works out to roughly 26 country markets — fewer than the “31 exchanges” headline, because several exchanges sit in the same country — split between online and Trading Representative execution.

Eligibility

The online application uses Myinfo — Singapore’s SingPass-linked national digital ID — so foreigners and non-residents without one apply by the offline, branch or mail route instead.

This is not the same as “open from anywhere.” Treat it as a Singapore bank-broker where foreigner onboarding may require paperwork and possibly a Singapore banking/CDP setup depending on the account structure.

Best use case

Use OCBC Securities when you are already in the OCBC/Singapore ecosystem and want a conservative bank-backed broker with broad Asia and developed-market reach.

Skip it when you want low-cost global execution. IBKR, Boom/Monex, Tiger or moomoo will usually be cheaper for the markets they cover.
